Castile Soap

Blog By Maddie Smith

Castile is a versatile soap with many purposes.

It originated in Spain and been around for a very long time.

It is made from coconut oil and olive oil. Completely free of animal products and unlike most soaps, it is not made from fats.

Castile soap is not only gentle on the skin but also gentle on the environment. Due to being made up completely from raw materials it is non-toxic, biodegradable and eco friendly. It is true soap rather than a chemical detergent.

USES:

  • Deodorant- 1/2 a teaspoon of Castile soap with 1 teaspoon of sea salt5 to a spray bottle. Spray under arms area as needed.

  • Laundry Detergent- Add 1/2 cup of Castile soap to a load of laundry. You can use less soap if you’re using a high-efficiency washing machine
  • Toilet Cleaner- 1 cup of soap and 4 cups of water and put in a spray bottle. Use this solution to clean your toilet.
  • Fruit & Veg Rinse- 1/4 teaspoon of soap to a bowl of water. Soak and then gently rub the produce using your hands. Then rinse with plain water.
  • Makeup Brush Cleaner- a cup with warm water and a few drops of Castile soap. First rinse your brushes in water, then place them in the cup for about 10 minutes. Rinse the brushes again and allow them to air dry.
